Nathaniel Sabir

Laborers' Local 332
Secretary-Treasurer

Nate Sabir was born, raised, and educated in Philadelphia, PA and held the position of secretary-treasurer with the Laborers’ Local 332 Union. He also served for many years as the primary trusted confidant to legendary Laborers’ Local 332 Business Manager, Sam Staten Sr.

In addition, he was a member of the executive board of Laborers’ Local 332 and served as a delegate of the Laborers’ District Council of Philadelphia and Vicinity.

Charitable and Community Endeavors
Nate Sabir’s love for Islam and education led him through many endeavors to propagate support for both.
Many good deeds, from a heartfelt concern for caring for the elderly to feeding an entire homeless shelter, were attributed to Nate. He had a very kind and charitable heart and took pleasure in helping others as best he could. He strongly felt that all children should have the opportunity for quality education and be able to have a book in their hands.
Named in his honor, The NSMSF, a 501(c)3 organization, has helped many students in their attempts for quality education. Annually we sponsor an essay contest designed to stimulate creative thinking among students. The event is offered to students from grades 4th through College levels.
Since the inception of the fund, over $200,000 has been awarded to educational institutions and students as incentives to help them achieve their goals. These awards were distributed regardless of race, creed, or color. Another part of our annual events presentations is a Tri-State Spelling Bee competition which has become quite popular.
Many of our youth have progressed to professional careers, including doctors, pharmacists, and teachers. Most important and admired of the services previous recipients have offered is their enthusiastic return as guest speakers and role models at our annual fundraising banquets.
